no sound

I have no sound on my computer. I tried to downlownload the media player and ever since then I had no sound. I tried doing sound recorder and when I click it a pop up comes up that says sound recorder cannot record or play back because a soun device is not installed.I don't know what to do can somebody let me know please?

It sounds like you have lost your sound card or the drivers that run it.
Go to Start > control panle > system > device manager > click the plus sign for Sound Video game controler and tell me what it says.
