firefox problem

Postby JROK » Fri Apr 21, 2006 3:43 pm

I currently am using Firefox on Win XP. By accident I deleted Firefox the other day. I reinstalled it and now I am having major issues. When I open it I get the message with the heading "Alert"

Could not initialize the browser's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your browsers profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full......

There is more to it, but its just about closing the browsers before making changes. After I click OK on this one another message pops up about my homepage:

You cannot connect to idm.unh.edu because SSL is disabled.

I ge this same message about SSL on most websites. I can't open any of these websites. I haven't made any changes to my internet settings or security settings. I went through all of the options and nothing seems any different from before.

I hate internet explorer. I don't want to be stuck using it, so how can I fix firefox?

First I would try uninstalling Firefox through Add/remove programs in the control panel.
Reboot the system and then reinstall Firefox with any lick that should fix any problems.
