Generic Host Error (Internet)

Postby Un4g1v3n » Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:22 pm

Well, before I got virus or whatever yesterday afternoon, my DSL modem would connect to the internet by itself. Now, I have to use a Broadband dialer to connect.

Also, after I'm on the internet for a an hour or two, I get

"Generic Host Error" or something like that. After that, the connection to the internet stops. The icon still appears, but the connection is closed. I have to restart to get it working again.

System:

Windows XP Home - SP1
640MB Ram
2.0GHz.

Thanks.

It could be one of the things we removed with Hijackthis let’s try resorting it

Start HijackThis and click the Open the misc tools section now click Backup
Put a check next to the following line:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4FEE88F8-A34B-42A7-9779-54EC31F14DAE}: NameServer = 206.47.244.61 206.47.244.89

Now click the restore button reboot the system and see if your dsl is back like it was
