Motherboard and GPU

I have a friend who has a computer that he doesn't have drivers for the mobo and the grapher card. How do you dertermin what socket is the cpu and how do you know what drivers to download and stuff for both?

If the system boots and already has an OS installed you can use to find the motherboard model and the gpu model.

If there is no OS installed then you will have to open up the case and look for the model number on the boards themselves.
