Pc Rebooting, serious error.

Postby Immaculate » Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:28 pm

I am having problems with my pc. I am running windows XP with service pack 2. My pc keeps rebooting for no reason and when it logs back on it says this pc has just recovered from a serious error. The technical error message i get is this

" C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00\Mini083006-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00\sysdata.xml"

I have tried looking for this file but it doesnt exist according to my pc. I have done a search for it and this is what it says about it

"C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00 refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location."

I am also having problems with my sound which was working perfectly ok yesterday. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and rebooting but this doesnt solve the problem. I have run my anti virus to see if i had any viruses and it found none so i am very confused as to why my pc is doing this. Can anyone tell me what the problem is before i end up throwning my pc out of the window? Can someone tell me how to resolve this without having to format my pc again, i had this problem before and i formated it and the problem went away for a while but now its back. :(

There could be a number of reasons why it’s rebooting let’s see if we can isolate the error

Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log'
and uncheck Automatically Restart.

Now when the error happens the system will not reboot and you will get a blue screen with the error listed.
Write down what the error was and post it back into this thread
