Data exacution prevention

Postby venney » Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:44 pm

Hello.
I have a problem with the new pc already lol.
I dont have a virus scanner so i am hopin someone is going to tell me that its a virus related problem.

Sometimes when the pc boots up, a windows messege will come up saying something along the lines of data execution prevention. And when i click close, windows exploore crashes and i am left stuck with nothing to do but restart the pc.

I think it shounds like a virus. What should i do?
Thanks.
Venney

venney,

Does the message look like this:
Data Execution Prevention – Microsoft Windows
To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.
Name: program name
Publisher: program publisher

Full Microsoft article here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875351/en-us

And yes it does sound like a virus or spyware to me but you said it only happens sometimes.
Next time it happens get the program name and publisher

You could also post a Hijackthis log
