Remove SpySheriff Adware

I heard it creates fake threat reports and I want the program removed. I tried followsing my norton directions, but the file was no where to be found. Can you help?
Also I have a question. I have a mom who has an email account where she last used it was her sister's house. She had a big argument with her about something so my auntie decided to hack into her account and read her mail and forward nasty insults to people on my mother's address book. We knew she was reading them because she knew about my mother's problems (info she emailed on her account). My mother NEVER told her anything. How can it be resolved. She got a new email address and it was hacked too. How can i stop this because it's illegal...
