I just needed to vent this somewhere because it's so damn stupid.
Also, would be nice to see if it happens to anyone else.

I've got a playlist in WMP11 and when I sort the songs by 'Date Last Played' it breaks up every single song in the playlist into its own heading. I've got more than 30 songs played on 31/1/07 yet they aren't grouped into 1 heading.

I wanted to stay with WMP10 but I was having sound issues with a game and read that upgrading to WMP11 fixxed it, which it did.

I'm gunna give Vista plenty of time before I buy it.
I see absolutly NO benefit in getting it now.
The only thing I'm really going to want from it is DX10.
All the DX10 compatible games are slowly being pushed back anyway and so far they work in DX9 too.
I'd rather sit back and watch what goes wrong/right instead of experience it.
I'm gunna have a read of the guide being whipped up at www.tweakguides.com once it's done to get a good idea of what there is.

dx10 will probably be ok and i dont "think" anyone will need vista to run it but theres two things to look at with it. One is the games as you said but another is the video card itself. You wont really benefit from having DX10 with a card built on DX9 so the question becomes if its worth the upgrade cost. Thats one of those things where if your building a new machine anyway then yea, set up for DX10 but if your current machine runs everything you want it to then stick with it until it dont. By then, the cards are going to be much cheaper anyway.

Thats a good point. Apart from people who've got the new nVidia cards (I know someone who does ) noone can run DX10 games. Everyone will need a new GPU.
For quite a lot of people, this will also mean a new motherboard beacuse I'm sure a huge number of people still have an AGP slot. A new motherboard will in turn require a new CPU and RAM. Since all this will be more powerful than the current system, a more powerful PSU will be necessary.
For most people, moving to DX10 gaming will require a whole new system.

Btw, you will need Vista to run DX10 applications because DX10 works in an entirely different way to DX9 which is why DX10 cannot ever be supported on XP. I really would wish for someone to find a way to get DX10 working on XP because then I'd probably never have to upgrade to vista.

I guess, for me, Vista and a DX10 GPU will be on the same reciept. My 7800GT still handles everything coded well. I've tried Rainbow 6 Vegas on it and that had trouble, but after hearing that it can bring SLI 8800GTX to its knees, I'm not worried.

Can't wait to see what ATI/AMD have to offer with their new GPU.

no one knows the principals of supply and demand better than microsuck. They create the demand then sell you the supply, genius. Its like a doctor giving you a disease and then treating you for it.

One of these days theres going to be more game support for linux. They have emulators that will let you run a few (COD2, Half-life, Ghost recon) but not enough for me to completely ditch windows yet.
