Postby rohaninabout » Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:29 am

Hey there. 1st of all im a complete noob, cos i learnt about ram and shit in class, so i thought id come home and take it out and have a look, then put it back in (with my wrist strap on and following all anti static proceedures!!!).

anyways ever since then, my computer has been freezing (completely locking up, mouse and all) and i have to do a cold reboot every time.

i thought it would be the ram i took out, so i took that out and ran on 512 instead of 1gig, but it still froze etc... so it cant of been me touching the ram??

has anyone got any ideas or anything? i really need this fixed! cheers heaps!

Hello rohaninabout welcome to our forum.

Lets see if we can find an error related to your freezing problem.

Go to Start > Control panel > Administrative tools > Event viewer > look in the system section.

You are looking for any red or yellow icons, double click on the icon.
Click inside the 'Description' section then highlight the text and copy and paste it into notepad.
At the bottom of the event window check 'words' and then copy and paste that text also
Then past it all into your reply to this thread.

If you don't show any errors in the event viewer then:
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log'
