no video with upgrade

I am trying to upgrade an old dinosaur to be somewhat more usable. (I want to use is for a Ubuntu box).

I started with a IBM Aptiva E Series 190

Model: 2170-190
s/n: AF2DF59

I bought a motherboard off of ebay and am trying to just swap out the mobo, memory, and processor and keep all the peripherals with the minitower.

New stuff:

Mobo: MSI MS-6382 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...cname=bph07352

Processor: Duron 1.2ghz

Memory: 256 DDR 266 mhz

This mobo has no onboard graphics, so I stuck in a ATI Radeon 7000 32 MB AGP card. I put everything together and everything seemed to start up fine, except there was no video signal. All the lights come on, CPU fan comes on, little audible blip comes out the speakers, cdrom starts spinning the driver cd, but nothing on the screen. I was using all these peripherals before with no issue, so I'm fairly certain there is something wrong with the settings on the motherboard. Are there jumpers that need to be set? AGP card incompatibility?

I've tried swapping in a pci graphics card--nothing.

There is one AGP slot, 2 white PCI slots, and one blue PCI slot. What does the blue signify?

I've tried putting the mobo in another tower that has a 300 W power supply... nothing.

I've tried resetting CMOS by pulling the jumper and reinstalling... nothing

I've tried switching the bus speed jumper... nothing.

I suppose the motherboard could be bad(ebay purchase) but I'd rather not assume that.

Anybody have suggestions?

thanks

Jedd

Yes, that is what I did to reset the CMOS. It tried that twice... nothing. Then I pulled out the battery, waited a minute or two, and put it back it... nothing.

There are no beeps when I start up. I can hear the cd rom whiz (mobo driver disk) and the lights on the cd rom flash a few times, but then nothing happens. I also hear the hard drives whiz a little, but then nothing.

I just bought another video card from Freegeek (computer recyclers)--64 MB Nvidia AGP GeForce. They test their stuff before selling, so I am pretty confident that my new card is ok. This new card also doesn't do anything.

It really seems to me that there is some setting on the mobo that is goofy, but I can't figure what it could be. I downloaded the manual from MSI and went throught all the steps... nothing.

Maybe it's time to consider this to be a junk board I paid $13 for on ebay.

This is also the only socket A processor I have, otherwise I'd swap that out and see if it was garbage too.

Thanks for the response.
