Sup everyone i have a prob with pc can not figured it out. Ok here it is i get lines across my monitor and the screen freezes don't think the pc freezes not 100% sure. I sure hope you all can help me it's driving me nuts. :shock:

Hello DUREK, welcome to our forum.

Lines across you screen can result from one of three things:
1. Video card going bad.
2. Video card drivers corrupted.
3. Monitor going bad.

First lets look at your video drivers, do you know the make and model number of your video display card?

well i have onboard video but its a biostar motherboard g force 6100-m9 put a nother monitor on it did the same thing. I have link on it if you need it. Thanks for tryinh to help me. Heres the link

Hi Durek, Im just following up. Since you put another monitor and had the same result your narrowed down to options 1 or 2 of Geckos list.

Looking at drivers,

1. What happens when you boot in safe mode?
2. Can you see enough screen to install the newest Nvidia drivers?

The lines are not there all the time happens like 3-4 time a day screen freezes up i put the mainboard in 2 days ago and installed the the disc that came with it same day i should still download them drivers or no

Yes, download the drivers. they should be much newer than whats on the original disk.

I did it lets roll and see what happens. THX again bud i do have one more ? in control panel under system it was reading 2.0 ghz now that i change my motherboared it reads 500mhz or 1.0 ghz 1.81 ghz or 2.01 ghz what does that mean. Is it because i change the motherboard.

interesting, there shouldnt be an or involved.

You changed the motherboard but using the same cpu?

Thats sounding like you may have some bios settings that arent quite right. What processor is on the board?

it's a AMD64 3200 venice running 1gig of ram

thats rated for 2.0GHz so the 2.01GHz you see is accurate. Im not real sure where 500MHz or the others are coming from but you need to check your FSB setting in the bios. It should be on 400MHz.

Well i did the drivers and so far so good i will do this one tonight also. I really thank you for all your help. This is the best Pc tech site i have been onTHX again. I will let you know how it turns out

well i look in bios and did not see fsb all i seen was cpu frequancy and memclock index value what is fsb under
