Postby arty » Tue Jul 03, 2007 8:23 pm

:D Hi folx...been a while....been very busy....have a friend with a CD problem I don't know the answer to:She had her pc tech install a new hardrive(larger) and transferred all her music to it...Now when she tries to copy one of the saved CDs with Nero she gets a message about 'File Format' and cannot make a CD....How can she change the Format or fix this problem.....She'd like to copy about 30 CDs and then delete them and save new ones without having to start over(very time consuming).....I don't have a clue and i Know someone here can help me help her out......So.....any ideas? [/b]

What is the file extention of the files she is trying to burn?

Here is why I ask:

If she is using Nero to make a music cd from .mp3 or whatever, she would normally select the "Create Music CD" option in nero. The program then converts whatever file it is to a music cd format such as cdda.

But, if her music was already copied as a music cd and then just copied to the drive from the cd, she would need to just copy them back to disk with "Create Data CD" option in Nero.

To get the individual tracks back to mp3 format, she would need to run a converter or just rip the cd's.

Hope this helps. If not, then I would need more details on the problem.

My copied CD's have changed to .nra which Nero says it doesn't recognize the file format. What can I do to change them back to MP3?

are you able to double click it? .nra is a type of file used by nero, so it should open in nero, allowing you then to burn to disc.

I need to explain this from the top. I had a friend transfer my music to a new harddrive which changed the MP3 to .nra and I don't know why. I went into Nero to finish making copies of saved copies. I click add, go to my saved CD's, click add, and I get a message saying the file format is wrong. Nero will not add any of my saved CD's that have the .nra ending.

Ok this is what I think you need to do.
Open Nero, find where it says, burn image to disc (or something similar)
and select the .nra file you want to burn to disc. Am i to assume each .nra is an album?

Nero says it can burn .nra files as an image.

That help you or do you want me to explain further? Or if I have miss understood anything please clarify.

if each mp3 is a seperate .nra file you have a problem.

Venny, I don't have .nra support on my Nero program. I'm using Nero smartstart. And Yes, all my saved CD"s have converted to .nra. My Cd's are my own compliations I edited and made myself from my library.

hi there, ok lets see if we can get 1 step further. I think you probally do have it but not knowing where to look, but i may be wrong. To get to the picture i showed
open smart start,
go to the copy and backup tab,
then the burn image to disc,
Then you should be able to see it.

Let me know if that works

Hey venney, I did what you said in the previous post and still got the following: "some audio items had to be removed because they could not be opened. (perhaps files have been renamed or removed on your hard drive or the drive letters have changed) This is true. I have my cd's on drive "H" where they were to begin with and on drive "C" which is where they were copied to and "H" is an external HD. I still get the same message from Nero. I change the file to .nra, click on the CD's that now have that extension but still get the same message, what is up with this? I really appreciate the time you're spending on my problem.. :D
