Quicktime

I can't uninstall Quicktime.
If I try to remove it via add/remove programs, the 'installshield wizard' starts, the blue progress bar gets to about 10% and then the window dissapears.
If I try to run install the latest version it eventually comes up with a window saying 'The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.'
It says it needs 'QuickTime.msi'
I did a search and found that, but then it says '[file] is not a valid installation package for the product QuickTime.'
Can anyone please help?
