System infected with spyware trojan.icqrevenge, trojan.virtu

Hi,
My system is infected with Trojan.virtumonde, icqrevenge and some other spywares. I have run Spyware Doctor so many times to clean them. But every day they keep coming back. It does not seem to work. Also i paid them license fee.
After installing spyware doctor the system has become terribly slow. I cant even open an IE while Spyware doctor is in the task bar. hence removed it from the start up programs.
there are many popups coming up while connected to the net.
can anyone help me please.

Please download HijackThis http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis.zip and save it to your desktop.

To extract HijackThis:

1. Right-click your file HijackThis.zip and from the menu select "Extract All".
2. The Extraction Wizard Window will appear, Click "Next".
3. Click Browse and navigate to "C:\" or the "C:\Program Files" and click "Create A New Folder" and call it "HJT" or "HijackThis" or whatever that is easy to remember and then click OK.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. Close the HijackThis.zip dialog box.

Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens,
Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

Please download and save it to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
When VundoFixopens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the
Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.


Next please download to your desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running, that may cause it to stall.

When it's done running it will produce a log for you.
Please post that log in your next reply along with a new Hijackthis log.

Hi Gecko, thanks a lot for your response.
I've run the Vundofix succesfully.
But when i tried running Combofix, it gave the below message.

"Current date is 2007-11-19.This copy of combo fix has expired. Please download an updated copy."

and it said Combofix is uninstalled. please advise where a new version can be found.

Sorry about the outdated combofix it seems that every link I know of is the same outdated version.
Lets try a different program first while I see what's going on with Combofix.

Download SDFix.exe and save it to your desktop:

* Double click on SDFix on your desktop,and install the fix to C:\

Please then reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
* Choose your usual account.

* In Safe Mode,go to and open the C:\SDFix folder,then double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the script.
* It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
* When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt into your next reply.

I've performed the steps below.
1) I've downloaded the avenger to my desktop and ran it as you have advised.
2) After reboot it did not create the Avenger.txt in C drive. A command prompt has come up with some error.
3) So i copied the exe to C and ran it again. Then it produced the avenger.txt.

Now that your system is clean, this is a good time to set up protection against further attacks.

1) Watch what you download!
Read all security warnings, license agreements, and privacy statements associated with any software you download.
Only download programs from Web sites you trust. If you're not sure whether to trust a program you are considering downloading,
enter the name of the program into your favorite search engine to see if anyone else has reported that it contains spyware.
Never click "agree" or "OK" to close a window. Instead, click the red "x" in the corner of the window
or press the Alt + F4 buttons on your keyboard to close a window.

2) Keep Windows up to date!
Go to IE > Tools > Windows Update > Product Updates, and install ALL Security
Updates listed. If you're running Windows XP, that of course includes the Service Pack 2!
Don't forget to check for updates every week or so.
Or you can set Windows to Automatically update itself:
Go to, Start > Control panel > System > Automatic Update tab > check Automatic.


3) Internet Explorer security settings!
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned
ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.

Make sure you have an Anti-Virus program installed, updated and running.
