Low mic volume in vista

For some reason whenever i use my mic the volume is to low i tried to talk on teamspeak and people keep telling me they can't hear me i even tried to record myself with windows recorder and it's very very low. I set the mic boost to max and the volume to max i even tried getting the latest drivers for my sound card and the volume is still low i just don't know what to do.

Oh i think my sound card is a sigma Tel.

Is there a High and Low switch on your mic?

Have you tried a different mic?

I tried the mic on my old pc running xp it works just fine but when i try it on my vista pc the volume is way to low i have every volume setting i can find set to max. I looked on google for a few hours and all i find is people with the same problem but no solution. and yes my mic has a high and low switch for the output and it's on high.

What is the make and model of your computer?

It's a gateway GM5457E got it from tiger direct.

According to Gateway is the latest driver for the GM5457E, it's dated 4-03-07.

I did some searching and it does seem like a lot of people have the same problem as you.

I did see on more than forum that uninstalling the old drivers first and then rebooting before installing the new drivers did make a difference about half the time.

It's worth a try anyway.

Hmmm this is very odd i uninstalled the drivers for the sigmatel and restarted and i was about to install the new drivers when i noticed i had sound then i went to the device manager and under sound it said high definition audio for the sound card. I tested the mic and it was very loud but it works perfect. Did not install the new driver since it works now. Thank you for all your help.
