Vista Connection Problem

Postby Torquay-Pete » Sun Dec 16, 2007 2:27 pm

Hi everyone
I have just installed Vista on my second hard drive and am having difficulty getting online. I keep getting the dreaded "Limited or No Connectivity" message. I have tried the repair options but still get
the same results. The strange thing is that sometimes after a while the
little yellow warning triangle disappears and all of a sudden I am online??
I have even used system restore to save my settings but this makes no difference when I use this. I am running VIA a motorola surfboard modem connected by an ethernet cable, this is going thru a linksys router for the Laptop. The whole system works fine on XP... I have attached a Hijack this
log to see if anyone can come up with a solution to this annoying problem.
Thanks in advance as usual Pete

Torquay-Pete

Your log is clean.

Go to Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections. Open the properties of the connection, uncheck TCP/IPv6 reboot the system and see if that resolves it.

hello again Gecko, Tried your tip..but sadly this did not work :( , I keep getting the "May be a problem with your router or modem" answer to all my repair attempts, Surely this is all ok as XP has no trouble connecting?
I am thinking about fitting a wireless card if this will overcome the problem (or do you think this will only screw things up further?)
Awaiting your reply Pete

Torquay-Pete

Click Start, type Services.msc in the Start Search box, and then click Services.msc in the Programs list.

Find the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service in the Name column, and then examine the status for the service in the Status Column. Windows Vista is using Internet Connection Sharing if the Status column for the service shows Started then right click on it and select stop. Right click again and select properties in the Start up type dropdown select Disable

Torquay-Pete,

I have read several places that vista does not work with a number of older routers models. :(
