This guy is destroying my life. Ran AdAware and SpyBot but on reboot this has continued to attach C:Windows\system32\CTFMON.EXE and a Messenger file. AdAware cleaned up somethings but Spybot couldnt touch Smitfraud-c.coreservices.

Here is the HJT file:

Hello wenzelj and welcome to our forum.

Please download
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool";
it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes.
Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

wenzelj,

Please download to your desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply along with a new Hijackthis log.

Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running, that may cause it to stall.

My computer says that combofix is not a valid win32 application. I am using Firefox due to my computer not responding well with IE6. It allows tons of pop ups where FF doesnt.

Help is appreciated.

wenzelj,

Try downloading combofix again
If that doesn't resolve the problem of running combofix then reboot into safe mode and run a full scan with AVG;
Reboot into Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

wenzelj,

Warning these instructions are for this thread only!
You should never attempt to use them for anything else!

Please copy this to Notepad and save it to your desktop or print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any other open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)
tuvwu.exe
T0CHD001.exe

Start HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only" put a check next to each of the following entries:
F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuvwu.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {247F5A17-18E5-4383-B24D-665C7E0817A3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuvwu.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2D5796A2-44E0-4E50-A5A0-80BF1EE3EA73} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtuturo.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9E2225B0-9BCA-4A37-94EA-A94988E919E9} - \
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A1B1997F-A072-44DD-96FA-C32835B8475A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\byvsr.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AC08405C-8B15-4E29-8F54-82DAE037B162} - \
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [{4F-F1-17-75-ZN}] C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\T0CHD001.exe CHD001

Now click the "Fixed checked" button and then close HijackThis

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:
ZenoSearch

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuvwu.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\T0CHD001.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuvwu.dll

Did as you had requested. Only actions performed were with HJT and the fixes. Did not find any of the files to delete. Performed the Disk cleanup.

Here is the HJT logfile.

All seems well. Can I delete Smitfraudfix from desktop to clean things up a little more?

Thanks for everything.

wenzelj,

Yes by all means delete Smitfraudfix.

FYI - The combofix link I gave you was bad it just downloaded an empty file.
Sorry about that but I'm no longer an active support member with that site so I didn't get the PM.
I did tell them about the empty file, hopefully they will fix it or delete it.

I have since gotten the newest combofix link from the source.
