No sound after reformat?

Postby Tharrick » Thu Jan 24, 2008 2:50 am

As some of you (those who read the HJT help forum) may know, I've recently had to reformat my computer due to a particularly stubborn Vundo infection.
Having reformatted (and reinstalled all my drivers etc etc) I've found that my audio just isn't working any more. The mixer shows that there's apparantly audio coming out at the levels that I want, but nothing comes out of the audio port. I've tried a different set of speakers, and I've tested the speakers on other devices, and they all work fine unless plugged into this computer. I've tried different programs etc etc, but not a single sound. When I reboot the computer, I get the popping sound that it usually makes when you start something up with speakers plugged in, but apart from that, not a decibel :(

Info:
OS: Vista Ultimate (32 bit)
Motherboard: Winfast MCP61SM2MA
Sound card: Using on-board sound

Anybody cast some light on this situation?
Much appreciated!

*Update* Problem solved - it turns out that the drivers on the Foxconn website don't actually work wtih Vista, but they directed me to the manufacturer of the audio chipset, who provided the working drivers.
