reinstall question(kinda)

Postby PearlJamaholic » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:26 am

i plan on using another harddrive to boot windows and so plan on installing it on that one. is there away i can save window's settings and stuff so when its back up and running i dont have to reconfigure everything like sounds and all those little things. id like to have windows look and feel the way it does now with out having to tweak everything cause im pretty ocd when it comes to that stuff. i can hardly use the schools computers cause i dont like the settings.

PearlJamaholic,

There sure is, its called Windows migration tool.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Files and setting transfer wizard.
One of the better things by MS, it does it all, email, my documents, settings, wallpaper, everything.

that is the right driver, should have worked.

Try another floppy if you have one.

i think something is seriously screwed up. i have a my documents folder on that drive and i cant even open the owner subfolder. i tried reformattiing with the computer management and right clicking. and everything. i cant delete it either. i tried doing the reformatting in safe mode along with opening or deleting it.

humm, try the data lifeguard tools for windows since your not running off of that drive.

http://support.wdc.com/download/index.a ... =15&swid=1

if the drive isnt physically damaged, you may be able to write zeros to it which is also known as low level formatting.
