Website ICONS

Can any one help me? I have windows Vista home premium operating system. When you open a website it is shown on the bottom of the monitor, if you open additional web sites they keep appearing on screen, so you can switch from one to the other if needed, for some reason mine does not preform that way any longer, now when you open the second one it cancels the first one . How can I restore this function?
