nice one Jim I will give that a go as well. Prime 95, ran 9 hours without any errors whatsoever so its looking good so far :D . I also ran nvidia stability test which run fine for 2 hours! But then again I am not over clocking my graphics card so it should be fine.

I will give this video card stability test a go - how long should I run it for bud?

its factory overclocked to 660/970. Memory has a multiplier of 2 so it actually runs at 660/1940.

how comes my stock is like 512mhz on a 8800GTS?? isnt that strange to you?

Maybe i could up it a bit using riva tuner and check for atifacts/temp using ATI Tool reckon i could hit 600mhz on Gcard core??

PS you getting 43c on your gcard?? thats impressive! im getting 60ishc on my stock cooling maybe if i had better cooling i could hit the same values you have on your card.

43C is thanks to the thermaltake cooler i added on the card. That screenshot is in the nvidia control panel, you can make adjustments from there and your card should easily run the speeds i am. I've ran mine up to 700/1100 but it gets pretty warm and will show artifacts that high. 700/1000 runs pretty stable but i really havent needed to keep it there. 600/900 should be the norm, if yours is at 512 its underclocked. run it up to 6X9 and see how you do. Watch your temp though, you get much over 70c and it will start glitching.

cheer Jim. seems to run about 60ish idle at 6x9 settings! can go to 70c+ on games but it doesnt seem to clitch yet. I may get a cooler for it if i wish it overclock it stable with them settings(or a notch higher). Thanks for the advice man your great :D

Does the stability test run any better with those settings?

I did manage to get 515 on the VGA stab test but then i ad to clock it back again Jim. ATI Tool picked up some artifacts - think the OCing was raising the temps too much.

Jim! Heya dude happy new you to you and everyone at PCTech.

Check this out :D

Image

I overclocked gcard be the values shown below and as you can see from the benchmark score its dramatically changed! and seems stable!

Instead of Nvidia Ntune I have tried EVGA Precision and it seems to be working out nicely for me :D! Now I can finally change the fan speed, even with new drivers (which I could not with ntune due to nvidia stopping the support for it on the new drivers package!)

Image

Also I found out a sweet spot resolution for the 8800GTS 1360x768 (FPS Flies at this res) maybe because the lower height ? seems all good tough!

Your finally getting what that card should have been doing all along! Amazing what a little tinkering can do.

How did you come out with the monster ATI card?

Happy new year to you too man, hope its a good one!
