Format a 8GB GeekSquad USB Flash Drive

Postby johnnyd3398 » Thu Dec 25, 2008 6:31 pm

I have been trying to format a GeekSquad USB Flash drive. I've tried everything. Using the command line DOS Format E: FS/NTFS. Opening the My Computer icon right clicking on the drive and using format from the dropdown menu, etc. Nothing seems to work. I paid 30.00 for the drive and GeekSquad wants 25.00 for Tech Support to fix the problem. Figures huh? Can anyone help me with this? I only used the drive twice before and when I took a bunch of files off it I refomatted it to clean it off. Since I did that I can't use it at all. I formatted it on Win XP Pro, right clicked on the F: and chose format. It siad it formatted the drive successfuly. But now when I try to do it the same way it shows
"Drive needs to be formatted." it has a RAW format and and file system shows "Unknown"
Please help!! Thanks

Try . Also, you will have better success formatting as fat32. Fat32 can be read by most anything and works better for flash drives.

try this way go to > Control Panel\Administrative Tools then open Computer Management then select the drive under storage on the left then right click your USB Drive then format this way. If that still does not work it could be that the flash drive is corrupted.
