Sadly, you too will one day find out the hard way that Norton is crap in a pretty box. It does nothing useful. Sure it finds a lot of antiquated viruses that no one gets anymore, and sure it filters everything on your computer eventually to the point will even you will be blocked from using it, and yes it may even find some of the lesser threating spyware and malware, but overall its performance is poor. Very poor for the price you have to pay for it. Norton is a cult following from the geeks of old. There are some people who will only use what they are familiar with. Trust me Norton is, and always will be a joke. I have attended several local hacker meetings, and even Defcon in Los Vegas . If you find one person in any of those meetings worth his salt that doesn't erupt in uncontrollable laughter when you tell them that you have Norton for protection, let me know. If you want to know how to protect your computer, stop listening to the retarded noobs at Best Buy and PC Magazine. Find yourself some underground forums and IRC channels and get to know the way of those who write viruses, steal information, and sell it to spammers. But take this from someone who knows....the best protection is education. I have only one virus scanner, one malware scanner, and one spyware scanner. None of them are pay items...all free. I have had only one spyware item get on my pc in 5 years. It was a adware cookie. That's it. How do I do it? I stay away from main stream garbage that remains the target of every hacker in the country...Face Book and My Space. I don't download cute little smileys and screensavers, I don't need 8 different tool bars and I always read the fine print before clicking next. Most times things you want come bundled with things you don't want. Read it before agreeing to it. It is that simple people. No magic virus software! Just don't be a noob!
