New CD/DVD drive problem

Postby jemmo » Mon Sep 07, 2009 6:27 pm

I have just replaced the old (broken) CD drive in my PC with a new LG model.
It is set as slave to the main C: drive.
I have connected the machine back up, and all is working except for the new drive tray will not close and stay closed.
When it closes, it closes with a bit of a 'clunk', then does another 'clunk, and pops back open. This occurs even if I put a disc in to play.

Do you reckon I have purchased a faulty drive?

fixed it.

I disabled the Disc Detector service, put a disc in and played from Windows Explorer (and dbl clicking on the disc), and restarted the services.
It now still clunks a bit for my liking but it's working as it should.
