New Drive Install

Hi everyone
I am about to put in a 750GB in my PC to replace a smaller one....this will be a storage drive only, as my main C drive will hold the OS. The C drive is an IDE connection and the new Drive is SATA....can anyone tell me if I can run these together????

They'll run side by side, not a problem.

There isn't a need to be IDE only or SATA only.

You are shooting yourself in the foot. If your MB will handle both, hook the SATA up as the master and do an new install and use the old drive as a backup usb spare, not even connected to the computer. You could ghost the old drive to the new drive, but a new clean install is will keep the system running fast and smooth.

I do ghost a lot of old drives to new drives. The main reason, I charge $75 to ghost to the new drive but on a new install, setting up all of the software could be quite expensive for the client.

The speed increase response from the SATA HD is 4X the IDE response rate. The new Western Digital Green drive with 32 meg cache on board is nice. Runs at lower RPM's with a new algorithm.

Windows 7 upgrade might be your best option---it's a nice O/S
