according to liljim...that won't be necessary. I can install from my upgrade disk and insert win98 when it prompts me to....to verify a legit upgrade....I still will copy XP to drive and install from there.
Ever been installing an OS and have a read error and have to reboot and start install again, only to end up with corrupt files?????
It's happened to me a couple times, so now I copy to drive...install from there, no read errors!!!!!

If there is, its both software specific and a bad idea at the same time. Overclocking from within windows is possible to a degree but 90% of the time the system will crash/freeze in doing so. Theres alot of programs out there, most are the by board manufactures, that overclock from within and can be hot keyed im sure but its been my experience that it just sucks. Ive tried MSI's tool on one of their boards, Gigabyte and Asus tools are no better. The tried and true method is through the bios.
just thought i should add that the above is concerning CPU's. GPU's/ video cards are different ball game and are typically clocked from the OS with exception of the slot speed itself. You can overclock the slot frequency in bios and the gpu and gmemory speeds via software.
on the OS, oem is meant for system builders meaning it doesnt come in a pretty box or with all the fancy useless paperwork telling you how great microsoft is. Its pretty much a cd in a white sleeve with certificates of authenticity and a key. At one time you had to purchase "qualifying hardware" to be entitled to get a oem version or you have to be a licensed vendor but i dont know if its changed any.
If it doesnt specify 64 bit, its 32 and cant be used for both.

I now shop at newegg myself. When i was licensed, i had a couple wholesale vendors i occasionally ordered from but unless you were buying in bulk they wasnt much cheaper than newegg themselves. Win 7 ultimate 64 is suppose to be pretty good, i havent tried it myself. My only 64 bit os experience is with xp 64 and ubuntu linux 64, neither of which is compatable with much of anything. Windows XP 64 wasnt bad really, it had a good 32 bit emulator for running apps but driver support was very limited. With win7 being the "big new thing" its support should be slightly better.
