Modem problems... kind of odd

Postby Pharcyde » Fri Feb 27, 2004 11:43 am

Ok this has been happening for a while on my creative modemblaster which has its drivers updated by the way. There are two inputs for the phone line, each time my modem dials out whether it be a successful dial or not it switches to the other input, the one where the phone line is not in. So this leaves me waiting for a dial tone when i hit sign in, and if i dont hear one i must put the phone line in the other jack as soon as possible and then it will start to dial. Anyone know how this happened? thanks!

First I'd try this:
In "Device Manager" / Modems / Right Click your Modem and select "Properties" / Modem Tab / Make sure that "Wait for dial tone before dialing" is checked.

lol, i do thats why i have to wait for dial tone when i hit sign in, and if it doesnt dial that means it has no dial tone in that input so i must put it in the other. This switches off everytime a connection is made or almost made it seems like.

I only meant that if your modem didn't hear a dial tone immediately, it might be switching itself to the other port trying to find a tone.
Is the correct port listed in Modem's properties / Advanced Tab / Advanced Port settings?
Another thought...Try another phone cord.
You might try simply reinstalling the modem.
