Computer Locks Up randomly

Postby errn12 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 11:05 pm

I have recently done a new-install of Win7x64 on a new SATA 2TB. Since then, my computer will freeze from time to time randomly. It has also been shutting down at periods of probably intense resource use. The computer will go black as if someone just pulled the power cord except the fans are still running and the lights are still on. The monitor will even respond with color bars as if there is no signal from the PC. This second problem is the more important (if they aren't related) because it does this while I'm am editing video and while I am trying to render/final process my video for burning. It does this EVERY time the video gets to about 30-40% completion. It was also doing this when I was transferring files from my old drive to the new one. I have changed out RAM, did memory test, changed SATA drive location on board, played with voltages...nothing helps. Any ideas?

have you monitored temps at all? Sounds more like a heat problem than anything.
