No output to monitor

Postby fpena62 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 5:51 pm

Asus M5a78l-m, Phenom X4 965, Radeon HD 6870 & OCZ 600 wt PS. All working well until the old ladys frickin cat sprayed it  , I could see the stains and smell it on the graphics card, so I replaced the 6870 with a 5770 that I know works, still no output to screen, no bios ect, but the puter does seem to load up, hard drive light blinks and makes the usaul noises associated with start up. Next I pluged the monitor into another puter it also works fine, then tested the PS with a PS testor, it is not the PS, whats left but the Mobo? Couldnt see any visible stains on the mobo but dont see what else it could be at this point, unless im missing something?

Any help appreciated, thanks

fpena62,

Just because you can't see any evidence of damage on the motherboard doesn't mean that the graphics card didn't short out the motherboard or one of it's components like a resistor.

Doesn't that motherboard have integrated video?
Have you tried removing your graphics card and then use the integrated video?
