All computer hardware support

Scrambled video

Postby yoda174 » Sat Mar 06, 2004 8:54 pm

I put together a small portable computer with a Shuttle main board, AMD 2500 XP Barton, 512 MB DDR, Seagate 200GB IDE hard drive, and on-board Nvidia Nforce Graphics (Dual Head).

I put windows 2000 on it, and loaded all the proper drivers, but I am having a small problem. It will automatically reboot itself once in a while, and the video gets scrambled with lines, and it gets all messed up. It doesn't happen all the time, but when I start to run prgorams or browse the web it does it. I updated my video drivers, I even re-formated and re-loaded windows... but it still didn't fix the problem. I made sure all the hardware was hooked up correctly, and all the fans are running, and nothing is overheating. I even took the CPU, memory, and hard drive out and put it in an identical case with identical motherboard that was brand new... no luck. The only thing I can think of is that either the processor, the memory, or the HDD is defected.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I would try a different stick of ram and possibly video card.I dont think the processor or hdd is causing it.
