dang, i put in two new DNS server numbers, the ones of orlando, fl and apopka, fl for my wireless connection since i live in jax beach, fl. that still didnt solve the problem though, even though it was a good shot.

We'll give all kinds of help but we need to know exact information. How are you connected to the internet? Review the previous posts.

ok, the way i am connected to the internet is by a wireless network connection. thats what it says when i put my mouse over the icon w/ 2 computers in the bottom right next to where the time of day is. It says:

Wireless Network Connection (default)
Speed: 54.0 Mbps
Signal Strength: Excellent

So, from what i have looked at on my pc, i am connecting to a network (hence wireless network conn.) that connects to my ISP. just for further info, i just click on internet explorer and i am automatically on my homepage nfl.com

o yea, and windows update has not been working for the longest time, either. everytime i check for new updates, the percent goes to 66, then stops and freezes up, and i have to use ctrl, alt, del. i dont know if that could be part of the problem.

Try this:
Start / Run / Type in cmd Click "Ok" / At the prompt type ipconfig \release
When the prompt comes back type in ipconfig \renew
Let us know...try updating Windows.

I tried what you said, and it just gave me alot of system specs and numbers. I tried windows update after that, but nothing changed.

What was the IP it said you were connected too?
We can't help very well if you're not going to give us precise feeback. We suggest repairs but you don't give us what the results were.....

this is what the prompt said after I typed ipconfig /renew:

Windows IP Configuration:

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-Specific DNS Suffix.: gateway.2wire.net
IP address..............................: 192.168.0.100
Subnet Mask............................: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway.......................: 192.168.0.1

Some other choices besides ipconfig/renew were ipconfig /renew EL* or ipconfig /release *Con* which i was wondering if i should try.

That shows you have an IP connection. It's through your Dad's router.
So, after you do that, do you have an internet connection?
