Worrying Popups???

Postby Torquay-Pete » Sun Mar 21, 2004 2:08 pm

Hi to all on site
This is the first post I have issued as I an at a loss as to what to do
Although not a "Newbie" to computing I am baffled with this problem, maybe someone here can help (Please).
I had to re-install windows XP yesterday as my system had slowed right down, no probs here! But now I get these big Grey Popups From "Messenger Net" offering me Penis enlargements and free porn etc!!!
I dont recall having these Popups the first time I loaded up XP?
I have Google toolbar with popup blocker enabled but these still appear :?: .
any help would be welcome...............Pete

go into administrative tools / services,.. then locate messenger,.. open its properties and first stop it,.. then disable it,.. all done, no more pop-ups...

you can find the administrative tools in control panel

you can also go to Start>Run and type in services.msc...find messenger and disable it there. If you have SP1 installed you can go to add/remove in the control then go to windows componets and remove messenger. If you dont have it .
