Processor Upgrade - Problem

Postby kevdon15 » Thu Apr 01, 2004 1:42 am

OK, I installed a new processor into my system. I went from a Athlon 1.333 266 fsb to a athlon xp 2600+ 333 fsb. Now installation when smooth and everything is set. I boot up my PC, and the processor is detected as an Athlon 1800+ running at 1.53 ghz. WHY is that? it should be detected as a 2600+ running at 2.13

I checked my mother board website, and it says my motherboard supports up to 2600+ athlon xp. HOWEVER my motherboard only supports Up to 200/266 fsb. So is THAT the reason why my cpu is locked as an 1800+

Please someone, if you have any information. it would be greatly appreciated.

My Specs

ECS K7AMA Motherboard
784 DDR (2100)
40g Hardrive
Geforce 4 4400

Have you checked for a newer bios flash? The XP2400 is the last of the 266 chips that im aware of but thre might be a bios flash allowing support for the 333.
