Belkin PCI 802.11g Card: Struggling to Configure on P-II

Postby selowitch » Fri Apr 02, 2004 3:16 am

I can't get this card to work on my old Pentium-II running Win2000. All of my drivers are current and I have extensively tested the PCI slot -- all is fine.

I guess the next step is to update my system BIOS, but I'm pretty sure I did that (don't know how to confirm that it's the "latest", however).

I also tried to check to see if the motherboard is compatible, but I'm lost there, too.

Help!

What exactly are you having problems with?Configuring the network or windows not detecting the card?Is it listed in the device manager and if so,is it listed correctly? If the card isnt being detected, can you test it in another machine?Concerning your bios, most often when you reboot and see the POST screen, theres a string of numbers and a release date at the bottom of the screen. The release date is usually how you tell if its the latest avaliable or not.Another way is third party software such as .Its a great little program.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it if it's there.
Shutdown the Computer. Take the card out. Reboot. Install the software. Shutdown the Computer and reinstall the card. Start the Computer. Does Windows find and install it?

Did you try the other PCI slots?

Go to and run their "test".When its all complete it will gove you a system summary, including your motherboard manufactor and model number. If you get this information it will help us determine the capabilities of this board.

Have you tried asking windows to autodetect the card? Do you see the card listed by the BIOS during bootup? Have you updated win2k to the latest service pack & installed windowsupdate patches?
