you could always try the spyware search route to try to fix the problem. (spybot, adaware, hijackthis) there are MANY posts about spyware on this site. Here is one of them

Or you could just avoid the problem by using a different browser such as Opera or Mozilla.

The hijackthis log should be a plain text file - try opening it in notepad :)

thanks !!
ive fixed them..... my problem with IE is still there though as I knew it would be....
guess I can't blame this one on spyware :|

if i'm running too many programs on startup..which ones dya reckon i could drop ?
i do fiddle round with what i have starting up but always end up putting them back on....takes an age to boot up.... but i reckons thats mostly Norton!

Thanks again

IE6 causes problems with some Windows 98 systems so you might need to revert back to IE 5.5 or IE5 but before doing something like that why don't you try repairing IE6 to see if that fixes the problem. If you do not know how to repair IE6 post back and either I will tell you how or someone else on the forum at the time will give you the instructions.

If go into control panel, add/remove programs, Internet explorer should be listed there. Click to uninstall & you will get the option of repair, reinstall or remove it. Is this where you went to repair it before? Either way, this is the way to remove it. If you are worried about not being able to get on the net afterwards you could always try downloading another browser as a backup before messing with IE. Try mozilla (www.mozilla.org) or opera :)

i went into systems tools -> then system information... and on the Tools...u can repair from there... but i will try it the other way...just in case they are different !

I'm not sure how true it is but i have been reading up about browsers and it is said that some browsers do not live happily together that is why i havnt downloaded an alternative one.... still i dont spose i will find that out til i try!!

Thanks!!
