.mp3s download as .mpegs

Postby MasonZF » Mon Apr 12, 2004 6:37 am

Hi, when I attempt to download .mp3s from my site, they automatically download as .mpegs. Why? Also, how can I change this?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the option to "save as" or when you click to save there should be options for "filename" and "filetype".

Are you using any download managers such as getright or download accelerator?

And this may seem like a stupid question but,are you sure the files your trying to download are indeed mp3's?

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Yes, the files are MP3s because I encoded them myself, and linked them myself as .mp3 extensions.

No, no download accelerators.

I "resolved" this problem by making RealPlayer my default player for MP3 files. I don't understand though...I don't really want to use RP for it, I want to use WinAmp. However, when I use WinAmp, the files download as .mpegs!

I guess it isn't too big of a deal though. Any other suggestions?

P.S Thanks for the reply. :)

Go to the file associations in winamp preferences, try setting it as default to mp3's only.I dont know that this will help, just a thought.
