DVD regions

Hello, as im new here please forgive me if this has been asked before,
i have just bought a region 1 dvd(usa) but as im in the UK it wont play on my home dvd player, so the question is will i be able to play it on my PC if i buy a dvd drive,?????? this sounds so thick i know but i want to watch it now ive bought it..will any PCDVD play any region with just the correct software, can anyone recommend a good dvd drive to buy that will be ready to install and use.?

You might be able to apply a region patch to your dvd player

to see if your player is listed.

For PC's theres quite a few of software options such as

Do a search on for region patchs,you may find something better to suite your needs.
