New ASUS mobo and SATA HDD HELP!

Postby ctrlfreak » Sat Apr 24, 2004 1:49 am

Please help, I have a new ASUS mobo (P4S800D-E) and a western digital SATA connected with no RAID. BIOS can see it as boot device, but no other controll, ONE of TWO POST screens see it, and I can turn off or on those independantly. When windows prepares to install it says NO HARD DRIVE DETECTED. pls help.

I do not have ANY expiriance with SATA hard drives, but it may be possible that you need to load an additional driver durring startup.

If that's not the case I've also had problems installing winxp when no partition existed... for some reason xp didn't just create one. To remedy this, i used fdisk to create a new partion, and it worked fine

Let us know your solution!
