Computer no longer reads discs

Postby Immel » Fri May 07, 2004 5:04 pm

My computer just decided to no longer read discs as of the past couple months. Right now, I don't have the money to have it repaired since I'm expecting it to cost at least $100 dollars. Is professional repair the only way to fix it? :?:

If you go into "My Computer" is the drive listed?
Can you access it from there?
Does Device Manager show the drive as working properly?
Is this with ANY disk?
What type of drive is it?

Well- this is when I start to feel stupid because I can't answer the technical questions. I have tried to go into my computer and run the discs from there but it always says that there is no disc in the drive (which of course there is).

Here. Either your drivers got deleted somehow OR your cd rom drive died.

Sounds like you need a new drive, Office Max has a 52x24x52 Internal drive with a mail in rebate for $20.00 look on the website for the specials usually every month.
