mail washer

Postby pilchard33 » Sun May 09, 2004 10:54 am

I've seen there's a 'mailwasher' program recommended in one of these posts - I wondered whether it's worth having

I have a Yahoo account that receives god knows how many strange mails every day - I reckon when I used it to register on sites or to buy stuff on the 'net that my details got leaked over the web and hey presto, all sorts of rubbish starts coming through

It's got to the stage where there's alsorts of porn stuff coming in and I've set up alternative mail addresses - which I never use for site registrations or purchases in fear of the same thing occuring

I understand that the mailwasher doesn't work with the likes of Yahoo and Hotmail, and will only work with a POP3 type mail account

If I started to use my alternative addresses with the mailwasher program linked in, would I be able to confidently use them for registrations and purchses, safe in the knowledge that the washer wouldn't let in any rubbish?

hey pilchards,

i'll give you my opinion : i use mailwasher for more than a year, and it's wonderful ! What it does : it displays your messages on the mailbox server and let's you choose the ones you want and mark them as friendly, or you can blacklist them with the option to delete and/or bounce them, and of course, all this before downloading anything on your machine.
As for not working with Yahoo, i have no experience on that level, so i can't help you there

hope this helps
