Is Power DVD the software that came with the DVD drive, or is it third party software?

sorry guys...I haven't been on in a while. Great suggestions. No, they are not ripped DVD's and its not the software that came with the laptop. I know what you mean about third party. I dont remember what I set it at.(DTS or 5.1 but I will check). I'll also try the AC3 download and let you all know. Again, thanks for all the help, its much appreciated.

ok..I tried all the audio options and that didn't work. I then tried the AC3 codec and that didn't help either. As far as the cables, I dont have any cables running from anywhere. I'm trying to play Gladiator which is in mpeg-2. Is there a special decoder/ codec or something for that?

you could try another DVD program such as WinDVD which has a free trial.

Do you mean inside the laptop? If so, I have no idea (I've never tried opening a laptop). The laptop has only one optical drive(the dvd) so I'm assuming if the cd's play with sound then it's somehow connected to the audio. I think teststrips had the right idea in trying another player this way I could see if its the machine or the program. I will check the mixer though. Thanks Res.
