Like you said it shows a "Post" beep code is for memory.

Can you substitute some others?

I did find a little info last night before heading in to work.
I was searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base and found an article on "EMachines/Win98SE".It was about using the Recovery CD that came with the EMachine.It caused BEEPS at shut down and something else,I'll see if I can find it again today sometime.Anyway it said to apply the "MSPatch",like I said I'll see if I can find it.
At the time it didn't read like your prob but the more I thought about,it just might be.
All it said was that using the Recov CD caused some files to not load properly,causing problems at Shutdown.BEEPS at Shutdown and restarting...
You never mentioned re-starting so I never bookmarked it...

sry.

I'll find it for you,unless someone knows of this bug??

After restoring I used the Free Microsoft Cd that had all the critical updates and patches up unto Oct I think, then I went on line and installed the rest. I also had an update for the ethernet card I had installed and used it and now the card wont work

I got drivers off internet but they wouldnt work. ......sigh.......

I am going to try to swap memory sticks soon as I get my ass moving round here. I'll let you know what happened

ok through in a 64mb stick a known good working one and it still beeps just at shut down.

Alright,I'm glad those drivers for the Nic worked!
(I sent a link for the drivers for the Ethernet Card)

Ya know I did have those drivers among 2 or 3 other drivers and when I went to copy them on a floppy I thought shit that is too big for a floppy so I just copied the folder pertaing to my O.S.. After you stating to copy the who kit n' kiboodle it worked.

I know your pc is not having the Re-Start prob but the Beeps are at Shutdown so I wonder if the Microsoft Shutdown patch for SE would solve this for you.

Would that be included in the windows update patches? If so Its up to date already. Will search Microsoft for some answers.
