Trojan Horse

Postby Triggez » Wed May 19, 2004 6:35 pm

sigh ......... I'm really really angry, i mean who wouldn't be, right? Ok so i'm reading someone's screen name profile; it's all cool until i spot a link at the bottom. I click it out of curiousity and .... Bam! Trojan Horse is detected by my Norton Antivirus "2003". Norton then tries to delete the trojan (which was directed to a folder called "Exploit")... but i got a message stating "Unable to repair file", or something very similar to that. So i click "OK" and i think Norton tries to delete it once more, but again, it fails to do so. Finally i click ok again ... and norton vanishes. No more attempts to delete; no more alerts ... later, i did a full system scan with Norton, but it didn't detect any infected files. Is this trojan still in my computer? I read what a trojan does and it totally angered me sigh - I just hope there is some way i can delete it. Would maybe - upgrading to Norton Antivirus 2004 work? I'm running *windows xp home edition* and i have A LOT of important files on my comp, about 50gb worth :( - Thx in advance - great site :(

It is possible Norton AV placed the file in quarantine because it could not fix it. You can double click on the auto-protect Norton AV icon in the systray and then select Reports. Next select quarantined items. You will be able to see if anything has been added or not. I usually just delete anything that might be quarantined.
