Need information/help regarding messenger service (NOT msn)

Postby Jenks69sl » Thu May 20, 2004 11:55 pm

I recently found out that i could stop those annoying "messenger service" pop-ups by going into control panel>admin tools>services>messenger service. I followed the instructions that disabled/blocked messenger service. About a day after i did block the messenger service i noticed that my internet connect was cut right in half and my internet is VERY slow. My question is, does disabling messenger service affect your internet connection?

I had spybot and it cant find any spyware, i've used a virus scan and it says my computer is fine.

Does any one have any info for me? Thanks

I would install SP1,then see how things are...
There are patches but SP1 has to be installed first....so start there.

Download SP1 here:
